We have been keeping a close eye on the weather and the lower snow levels over the past week. At this point our grooming program has not started. We are aiming for Friday December 16th weather permitting. Certainly riders have been out and have been having fun. It is early season riding and I wouldn’t trust too many lumps and bumps. Unlike our friends at VARDA I doubt the bumps are unicorns or honey badgers but they still may not be too good for sled so ride easy. Its early. If you know Blue River you know the snow will come.

Hi all,

We have had a number of questions if the logging updates on the website are correct. Indeed they are. We are working hard to try and find some solutions and will update things as best we can. When we know, you will know.

Regarding opening the board is trying to make some decisions shortly. We were hoping to open Friday  December 9th. Lower snow levels in the valley have made decisions regarding grooming difficult. I hope to have a better idea for you later today or tomorrow.

This has been a very difficult start to the year with 4 different logging groups in the area blocking access. We are working with them to ensure we know all updates as their operations begin to wrap up.

We know everyone is itching to ride. So are we! If you do get out, remember it is full early season conditions and keep an eye out for stumps and rocks!

Conditions in Blue River are shaping up but shaping up slowly. We are watching the weather closely and are ready to go once we get enough snow to start up the grooming program. We continue to work with the logging outfits in the area on ideas for access while they are in operations. As always we will update you as we are able.

The wait continues…

This season was no joke. Wow, what a great year.

Thank you to all our riders for visiting our staff at the trail heads and supporting this all so important industry for Blue River. You don’t always see it but our volunteer board and your trail fees work hard behind the scenes ensuring incredible year after incredible year of riding in Blue.

Our generous sponsors stepped up with the funds we need to keep the operation going and growing. Anytime you can, please visit the current sponsorship page and show your support for them. I have said it many times, we truly could not do this without their support.

We have been grooming all week to have things set for what might be our last weekend of formal operations. There is plenty of snow in the alpine (spring riding) and the access trails are as good as we can expect. Our last day will be April 3, 2022. If the weather holds we will open the following weekend as well.

Our newest zone the Fingers, is formally closed due to degradation of the access trail. With pipeline activity in the area we are not able to create a parking area further up for the riders. We are hoping that next year the access will be greatly improved as TransMountain moves past the area.

We will update the Conditions and Grooming page on our site should anything change. Hopefully we will see you all this weekend for our last rides.

We do have some SBR gear going for incredible deals. Email info@sledblueriver.com if you want to swing by and have a look.

Cheers to 2022!

Andy
