Section 58 Closures
Section 58 of the Forest and Range Practices Act (FRPA) provides the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations (FLNRO) with an important tool to:
Protect public recreation resources from damaging impacts of excessive or inappropriate use; and resolve conflicts that sometimes arise between recreation users.
Generally speaking, the orders are aimed at separating incompatible or conflicting uses, or attaching conditions to the manner in which uses occur to make them more compatible.
Section 58 closures are PERMANENT, YEAR-ROUND closures.
AT NO POINT may you enter a Section 58 area to snowmobile.
Section 58 allows FLNRO to order the restriction or prohibition of recreation uses on Crown land.
